Despite the name of this program, eligible self-employed persons are considered to be individuals that have experience working in professional and technical occupations in art and cultural activities. Eligible applicants can submit an application for permanent residence, given they meet program requirements such as:

  1. Previous relevant experience working in occupations starting with 51 or 52 per National Occupational Classification (NOC) of at least 2 years capped at 1-year per experience (2 separate experiences lasting 1 year each). Previous experience must be gained either by being self-employed or through participation at world-class level activities.
  1. Score at least 35 points on selection criteria that assesses applicants based on age, education, previous experience, language ability and adaptability factors. This program has its own points grid just like CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) and FSW (Federal Skilled Worker).
  1. Be admissible to Canada against financial, health and criminal factors per IRCC (Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada) regulations.

At the time of application, applicants must demonstrate intention and ability to continue the same activities and contribute to a specific cultural and economic activity that is in-line with their previous experience. This can be proved through a well-prepared business plan, business experience, partners in Canada, etc.
